I tried reading up on the issue and watched some YouTube videos on how to replace so I am debating whether I should try to do the job myself or leave it to the mechanic.

The p0128 shows up when the coolant temp doesn't come up fast enough or not at all, eventually depending on outdoor temp and travel speed it will get warm enough to bring up gage and give you heat but the code was set because it didn't warm up in the expected time.
